NIMENA Splashes Cash Donations To Awardees
TThe Nigerian Institution of Marine Engineers and Naval Architects have made good her promise to present awards to those deserving of it. The awards which are in two streams – Student Academic Excellence Awards (Category A and B) and Distinguished Leadership Award for Members – were presented to the winners at the 8th Annual Conference of the Institute held on 14th November 2019 at Rockview Hotel, Lagos.
The winners of the awards are:
1. Academic Excellence (Category A): Paul Otuekong Monday – 500 Level Marine Engineering student of Akwa Ibom State University
2. Academic Excellence (Category B): Ige Oluwagbenga Segun – ND2 Student of Marine Engineering at the College of Fisheries and Marine Technology
3. Distinguished Leadership: Engr (Rtd Navy Capt.) Dominic Onabajo, MNSE
Each Awardee was presented with a Plaque, Award Certificate and a Cheque worth the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira (NGN100,000:00).
Speaking at the presentation of the awards, the National Chairman, Engr. Henry Unuigbe said the award was a demonstration of the Institute’s commitment to promote hard work and excellence in our various endeavours. He added that the award recipients emerged through a transparent process that is based on best practice.
He thereafter encouraged corporate bodies to emulate NIMENA by showing support for the award initiative.
The award scheme was instituted by the National Chairman and fully sponsored by him.
